Extended Medicare Coverage (Pre TWWIIA)
Social Security beneficiaries who lose benefit entitlement due to performance of SGA, but continue to be disabled, were eligible for extended Medicare coverage. The extended coverage was for a minimum of 39 months following the conclusion of the nine-month TWP. The 39-month period was derived from adding the original 15-month EPE re-entitlement period (pre-1988) to the 24-month pre-TWWIIA extended Medicare coverage (1/88 to 9/00).
